The Experimental Station for the Food Preservation Industry – Research Foundation (SSICA) celebrates one hundred years since its establishment, arranged by the Royal Decree on 2 July 1922, with the task of providing scientific and technological support to the emerging Italian food industry.
Faithful to its mission, it has carried out applied research and consultancy and training, with professionalism, intelligence, scientific uncriticism, enthusiasm, passion and innovative ability to become a safe and reliable reference point for the national canning industry.
Our first centenary deserves to be celebrated with awareness and pride: a series of initiatives and events thanks to which, in retracing our long history, we intend to enhance the excellence of the work carried out by the researchers of the Experimental Station and by the entire food chain.
On the occasion of the “Centenary” Day, a special volume is published which had been written by the Researchers of SSICA’s Areas and Divisions to spread more widely the activity of experimental development, consulting, transfer of results, training, dissemination and technological training carried out in recent years.
Also in this case, SSICA wanted to innovate, choosing the field of encomiastic journalism, with a historical-scientific cut.
We wish you good reading.
